Podcasts I’m Listening To – Short Listens

Wired earbuds

These are my daily quick listens that are always part of my day. These are the ones I listen to as I brush my teeth or take kids to/from school.

The World and Everything in It

This daily news podcast is outstanding. They have as their goal the objective reporting of news from a Christian perspective. Beyond just reporting the headlines, this team brings news from around the world and incorporates weekly reports about the cases coming before the Supreme court, analysis of economic news, reviews of media, and more.

Techmeme Ride Home

This is a great way to keep up-to-date on the latest coming out of in the world of tech. A quick-fire daily insight into all things technology, from A.I. to crypto, the Techmeme Ride home is an easy to be in the know with all the comings and going in my industry.

All It Takes is a Goal with Jon Acuff

Along with personal finance, I never thought I’d be a guy that likes a podcast about goal setting, but Jon Acuff makes the process entertaining and inspiring. I’m listening from the beginning of the series so I don’t miss any of the great insights that Jon brings to making those far-off goals a reality by productive action today.

The Bible Recap

I’ve done the whole read through the Bible in a year thing before, sometimes with a little bookmark in my Bible that I’d keep up with until I got to Leviticus, or with a gamified reading plan in the YouVersion app on my phone, but neither method really connected me with the content I was reading, and both practices robbed the reading of Spiritual significance. In contrast, the Bible Recap with Tara-Leigh Cobble has been a great way to go beyond just reading and making a practice of looking for God in the day’s reading and reflecting on the person of God. With its companion workbook with 4-5 questions a day, I’ve found this reading plan/podcast the most constructive in building a faith-building practice of daily Bible reading. I find myself not really thinking of the big task of reading the Bible in a year, rather I concentrate on today’s passing and look to find my “God shot”, that picture of God and His character as expressed in the reading for the day.

The Briefing with Albert Mohler

Doctor Mohler is the President of Southern Seminary and brings a theological and distinctly Baptist perspective on the daily headlines. His daily podcasts looks past the news to the worldview implications being played out in world and national events.

Atlas Obscura

These short episodes are quick journeys to “the world’s strange, incredible, and wonderous places”. I love these quick audio trips around the globe to hear about new places that most people didn’t know existed.
